King Moravian Preschool is proud to bring our kids Musikgarten of King. Research has shown that we are all born with an
aptitude for music, but that aptitude diminishes if it is not actively
nurtured between the ages of birth and nine. In addition, research is
revealing that developmentally appropriate music and movement
experiences in early childhood enhance a child's growth and development
in other ways over the course of a lifetime.
The Musikgarten classes offered by Musikgarten of King are designed
to nurture a child’s musical aptitude by engaging children and their
families in singing and movement activities which help attune the ear,
refine the voice, and develop a rhythmic body through which music can
be expressed. Additionally, instrumental activities are part of the
program, ranging from playing simple rhythm instruments such as sticks
and drums for babies and toddlers to playing keyboards for older
children.
Musikgarten is the only program that offers curricula for newborns
through group piano instruction. It is based on a keen understanding of
how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they
learn music. We encourage you to contact us about scheduling a free
visit to one of our classes so you can "see for yourself" the
difference music can make.

The King Moravian Preschool program was founded
to provide a truly unique learning experience for the children of our church
and community. We recognize the great responsibility our school assumes
since the emotional pattern of a child's life is essentially shaped during the
early years.

Here at
King Moravian Preschool we believe that children learn experientially. We
approach teaching by designing developmentally appropriate activities that take
into account individual needs, the interest of the child, community concerns
and spirituality.
The
teacher's role is one of facilitator. Our teachers create a nurturing
environment in which the love of learning is fostered through process oriented
activities with an emphasis on cooperation with peers, developing independence,
enhancing motor skills, encouraging creative thinking and enhancing self
esteem. We encourage learning by using children's natural curiosity and
creating an environment in which opportunities for investigation and choice
making are provided.
We
believe that through the use of community resources we can provide a more
enriched environment. Parents are a vital part of our community. We
welcome parents into our classrooms as observers at any time and encourage them
to share their special interests and talents with us.
In keeping
with the Moravian
Church's extensive
mission tradition, we will utilize an "Arts-focus" concept to
emphasize cultural diversity while celebrating the unique human spirit.
The preschool will benefit from a rich menu of local artists as special
visitors who can stimulate multicultural awareness through their particular art
form or heritage.
